Finally, as we enter the new year, this past week there has been quite a lot of new activity, both new listings and sales. It is apparent that many sellers were waiting until the beginning of 2016 to place their homes on the market for sale.
However, all of this is overshadowed by the news that the Playboy Mansion, located onCharing Cross Road in Holmby Hills, will placed on the market for sale within the next month. The property, which rests on the northwest corner of the Los Angeles Country Club golf course, is approximately 5 acres. The home, which was purchased in 1970, is approximately 11,000 square feet. By comparison, the Spelling Mansion, which sits on the southwest corner of the golf course is approximately 55,000 square feet. In reality, the Playboy Mansion is a tear-down home on a prime piece of real estate with a storied history.
The rumored asking price will be $200 million, and Hugh Hefner wants to live in the residence (as a roommate?) for the rest of his life. He is 89 years old. In reality, the property is probably worth $80-$90 million, and he will need to move out, as the home will most likely be torn down.
